Public accessible Facilities

Public accessible Facilities

Organically purified open-air pools are a sustainable and cost-effective alternative to chlorinated installations, as they operate without chemicals and help reduce both wastewater and freshwater costs. They not only provide a natural bathing experience in summer but can also be enjoyed year-round – for example, as an eye-catching visual feature or in winter for activities like ice skating or ice bathing. Thanks to their versatile design options, they blend harmoniously into their surroundings, and the clear water remains reliably clean even during periods of heavy use or high temperatures.

Possibilities and advantages

Organically purified open-air pools are becoming increasingly popular as an alternative to chlorinated installations. But do they truly offer a viable replacement for conventional chlorine-based water purification systems—and could they even enhance the appeal of open-air pools?
Due to the higher usage demands in hotels, campsites, and wellness facilities, we recommend opting for the BioNova® Vario or BioNova® Pool solutions. These designs are also highly suitable for public accessible facilities. Additionally, swimming pond builders enjoy greater flexibility in design, allowing organic swimming facilities to seamlessly integrate into the overall concept of the establishment.
Organically purified open-air pools can be used for all types of water sports activities. Furthermore, it is entirely possible to incorporate attractions typically found in chlorinated fun pools. These often include slides in various shapes and sizes, jumping rocks or towers, liana ropes, climbing walls, splash and massage jets, heating systems, counter-current setups, or water play equipment for young children. Small grottoes for relaxation seekers are also frequently included.

Benefits of the organic option

In northern Europe, outdoor bathing is unfortunately limited to just a few months each year. Outside the bathing season, pools in chlorinated facilities must be emptied and remain unused for the rest of the year. Left empty and abandoned, they are far from visually appealing. This poses a particular challenge for hotels and guesthouses, where attractive grounds are essential year-round to stay competitive in the demanding hospitality industry. Swimming and bathing ponds or organically purified natural pools provide an ideal alternative to conventional outdoor pools. The vegetation surrounding their purification areas turns them into a year-round highlight for any garden – because enjoying nature is always in season for guests!

During summer, organic alternatives offer no disadvantages compared to chemically treated pools. In fact, they are often seen as more appealing by both guests and operators due to their lack of chemical cleaning agents. Guests can enjoy swimming in pure, soft, crystal-clear water, while operators save money. Since water in organically purified systems circulates continuously, costs for wastewater disposal and freshwater replenishment are significantly reduced. These ecological systems are also highly resilient, easily handling heavy use or extended periods of high temperatures.
