How it works

The combination of elegant pool design and BioNova technology offers you maximum creative freedom.

Versatile and modern – Water is drawn from the surface of the pool and flows via gravity and a pump system into a separate regeneration pond. From there, the filtered water is pumped back into the swimming area, ensuring that the water never needs to be drained or replaced, regardless of the season. The key advantage of this design lies in the clear separation between swimming and purification areas, with some sections even being adaptable for underground installation. In terms of design, there are virtually no limits: from geometric pools and conventional basins to stunning rock formations. Since the introduction of the first natural pool in 2003, BioNova’s partner companies have constructed countless natural swimming facilities. These range from compact mini-pools to expansive hotel bathing landscapes – all individually tailored to meet specific requirements.

Of course, additional features such as counter-current systems, heating, and automatic slatted pool covers can also be integrated. These slatted covers offer several benefits, such as retaining heat within the pool and protecting it from falling leaves or other natural debris.

How small can a natural pool be?

Based on our experience, you should plan for an area of at least 2 x 2 metres for your mini-swimming pond. This is because the primary purpose of a small swimming pond is not necessarily swimming but rather cooling off and relaxing. Comfortable seating with back support is highly recommended. Thanks to the BioNova® construction method, there are countless design possibilities for your mini-swimming pond. Enhance your pool with a waterfall or create a striking focal point with a stone fountain. And here’s a tip: if you’re looking for a more athletic experience, a counter-current system can be easily installed. Heating the water in your mini-pool is also an option. We’d be happy to advise you on the various design possibilities.

Maintenance tips

To fully enjoy your swimming pond or natural pool, regular cleaning is essential. This ensures that you can continue to enjoy clean and inviting water without any worries. The good news is that you don’t need any specialist knowledge, as the proven BioNova system is exceptionally easy to maintain.
And the best part – most of the work is done by nature itself.

The water in a natural pool is purified biologically. Since algae are an integral part of the natural ecosystem, they are also present in a natural pool. Algae play a key role in maintaining the oxygen supply. With the help of nature and thoughtful planning, excessive algae growth can be effectively prevented.

Additionally, a robotic vacuum cleaner for the swimming area is easy to use and reliably gets the job done.
